Editorial services for writers doing serious work.
I edit books. Mostly for self-publishing authors — writers who have decided to shape and release their own work and want someone to help them make it as good as it can be.
A book on its way to publication is a specific kind of manuscript. It needs specific kinds of attention at specific stages, delivered honestly and without agenda. That is the work I do.
I approach editing the way I approach everything else — with the assumption that the writer is serious, that the story is worth the specific care it deserves, and that my job is not to write your book but to help you write yours better.
Rates are meant to be reasonable. This work is a privilege, not a gold rush.
The largest-scale editorial work. Structure, pacing, character, plot, voice, theme. Delivered as manuscript comments, a separate editorial letter, a working style sheet, and a follow-up conversation.
Sentence and paragraph work. Prose rhythm, clarity, word choice, dialogue naturalness. Delivered as tracked-changes edits in Google Docs. Follows the developmental revision.
Grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency. Continuity checking. Style sheet enforcement. The comprehensive correctness pass, with queries flagged for your decisions.
The final pass on the near-finished manuscript. Remaining typos, formatting inconsistencies, anything that slipped through prior rounds.
Tell me about your book. Tell me what you need. Tell me what you have already tried. I will tell you honestly whether I think we are a good fit for the specific project.
If we agree to work together, I offer a complimentary sample edit of roughly 1,500 to 2,000 words on a chapter of your choosing. Lets you see how I work. Lets me gauge the manuscript before we commit.
If the sample lands well for both of us, we sign a contract. Fifty percent deposit at signing. I do the work in the timeframe we agreed on. We settle up on delivery.
Developmental first. Line editing after your developmental revisions. Copy editing after your line-editing revisions. Proofreading last. Best result for the manuscript — and a pace that lets you engage properly with each stage.

Working with Casey was an absolutely transformative experience. He took the time to understand my characters and story and ensure that the message of my book was clear and impactful. I know that without his advice my book would not have the wonderful feedback it has received.
